About the project

Part of the “Jerusalem Gateway” megaproject to develop the western entrance to Jerusalem, these caverns will accommodate five floors of parking and a highway passing through the top level.

The two main caverns are 17 meters wide, 28 meters high.

The passageway between the two main caverns is through six connecting tunnels, with a maximum width of 8 meters.

Located in a dense urban area, there are also twelve exits to nearby existing and planned buildings – such as the Yitzhak Navon railway station across from the Convention Center of Jerusalem (Binyanei HaUma).

Note the lack of columns in the design of the structure. The parking levels are constructed utilizing long hollow core slabs that are supported on walls adjacent to the cavern sides. Moving and lifting these large elements within this limited area was one of the biggest challenges.
