Location: The lowest place on earth.
The bridge is 126 meters long and 15.5 meters wide, with a maximum span of 58 meters.
The bridge was constructed using the incremental launching method.
Many challenges had to be addressed during the design process, including construction in the harsh environmental conditions of the Dead Sea region with its highly saline soil and corrosive environment.
Due to proximity to the Syrian-African Rift, stringent seismic considerations were taken into account in order to reach safe design limits, leading us to use non-linear friction isolation (pendulum devices).
As there is a risk that large horizontal seismic forces acting on the bridge during an earthquake, isolation devices were required to reduce the effects on the piers and foundations of the bridge. A Time History Analysis was performed due to the nonlinear characteristics of the bridge
In addition to the detailed design, construction engineering services were also given to the contractor.
