About the project

Construction of an access corridor for road and rail traffic to the new port in Ashdod, using bridges, an underpass, reinforced retaining walls, load-bearing walls, shoring walls, and drainage channels. Execution adjacent to the sea requires the use of different types of concrete and of specialized sealing elements.

The project included a large number of bridges, some of which were for rail and others for vehicular traffic, which called for the use of diverse construction methods. For example, for the railroad bridge (Bridge No. 2), the planning included the use of two main beams on the sides of the tracks and a plate of prefabricated beams and supplementary casting. Given their tremendous weight, the prefabricated beams were designed to be produced in three separate sections.
