About the project

A bridge across the Sombreiro River in the Niger Delta region of Port Harcourt in Nigeria on a total area of approximately 2,500 sqm. The bridge was constructed using the precast beams method with an AASHTO cross-section and a load-bearing plate cast on site that has a length of 240 m and a maximum span of approximately 32 m. The bridge was constructed in an aquatic environment and called for the creation of an artificial island for the purpose of building the pillars and assembling the beams. The bridge pillars are formed by hammered-in driven precast concrete piles.
